Ruth A. Smith
Ruth A. Smith, 91 of Tiffin, and formerly of 6306 Co. Rd. 330, Fostoria, passed away Thursday morning June 8, 2017 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin
She was born February 7,1926 in Miller City to the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Schroeder) Riepenhoff. She married Joseph V. Smith on September 6, 1947 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, Detroit, Michigan, and he died on August 3, 2001.
Surviving are 11 children; Sister Bonnie Smith, O.S.F., of Tiffin, Dennis J. (Encarni) Smith of Waynesville, Louis J. (Jan) Smith of Delta, Barbara J. (Denny) Jamison of Ft. Wayne, IN, Roger B. (Martha) Smith, of Alvada, Mark H. Smith, of Fostoria, Catherine M. (Keith) McKenzie of Louisville, KY, Mary Lou (Tim) Wambaugh of Cincinnati, S. Gary Smith of Fostoria, Ann E. (Rex) Smallman of Metamora, and Lori A. (Bill) Merz of Cincinnati; 20 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, James (Jane) Riepenhoff of Leipsic; sisters, Eleanor (Bob) Zwyer of Berkley, Lucille Shields of Bowling Green, KY and Rita Mae (Herm) Schmenk of Ottawa. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katie Smallman; a great-granddaughter, Rylee Sue Blankenship; brothers, Clarence and Len Riepenhoff; and sisters, Mary Nartker, Clara Schroth and Norma Recker.
Ruth was a homemaker and a member of Fostoria Right to Life and St. Wendelin Catholic Church, where she was a Eucharist Minister and involved in the Rosary-Altar Society.
Visitation will take place Friday June 9, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at HOENING FUNERAL HOME 242 W. Tiffin Street, Fostoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday June 10, 2017 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with the Revs. Todd Dominique and Frank Murd, presiding.
Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
