Orland E. Rumschlag
Orland E. Rumschlag, 88, of Fostoria passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2017 in his home.
He was born on May 15, 1928 in New Riegel, Ohio to the late John A. and Emma (Geckle) Rumschlag. He leaves his loving wife of 60 years, DeAnne (Zender) Rumschlag to cherish his memory, along with children; Rebecca (Don) Miller, of Tallahassee, Fla., Roy (Brenda) Rumschlag, of Fostoria, Donna (Gerald) Leemaster, of Fostoria, Rita (Emmet) Sheeran Jr., of Fostoria, Lois (Larry Gardner) Rumschlag, of Fostoria, Regina (Anthony) McClanahan, of Florence, Kentucky, and Ben Rumschlag, also of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren, Lance Reinbolt, Eric Rumschlag, Vanessa and Kevin Leemaster, Jessie and Nathan Sheeran, Jolene Duque, Jay, Jenny, and Julia McClanahan, and Sarah Rumschlag; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, Christine O’Connor, and Adam & Brian Sheeran, six brothers and three sisters.
Orland honorably served his country beginning at the age of 15 in the Merchant Marines and continued his service in the U.S. Army during both WWII and the Korean Conflict, for which we are forever a grateful nation. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Fostoria. He enjoyed working on the family farm, raising the farm animals and working in the garden. He also made homemade wine, loved to play horseshoes and play cards, as well as watch his favorite western shows. Orland had been a football coach for the Tri-County Raiders, renovated countless homes over the years, and retiring from Atlas Crankshaft in 1990, he loved spending time with his family.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017 at MANN-HARE-HOENING Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St. Fostoria. Funeral services will begin in the funeral home at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Elder Steven Cain, presiding.
Orland will be laid to rest privately in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria.
