Obituary

Mary Lou Engler, 70, of Erie, Michigan, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania. She was born on January 28, 1947 to Anthony and Ruth (Koenig) Maenle.

Mary was raised in Point Place and graduated from Woodward High School in 1965. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The loves of her life included her family, 2 Shih Tzu dogs, Oscar and Barkley, pound cake, sugar free vanilla ice cream, and whipped topping.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 52 years, Charles Engler; daughter, Heather Lynn (James) Sandy; brother, James Maenle; sister, Darlene (Melvin) Williams; sister-in-law, Carolyn (Norman) Beets; brother-in-law, Richard (Kathy) Engler; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Harder; brother, Thomas Maenle; sister-in-law, Sue Maenle; father and mother-in-law, Nelson and Carolyn Engler.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017  from 2  until  8 pm at the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611, with a scripture service at 2 pm.  Visitation will also be held from 10 to 11 am on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611 with Mass of Christian burial beginning at 11 am. Father David Cirata will be officiating. Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be considered to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Hickman Cancer Center at ProMedica Flower Hospital, or Ebeid Hospice Residence in Sylvania, OH.

The family would like to thank Dr. Thomas McAlear, Dr. John Brunner Jr., Dr. Howard Schecht, Dr. Robert Wilson at Cleveland Clinic, and nurses and staff at Hickman Cancer Center and Ebeid Hospice Residence.

My sincere condolences to the family & friends of Mary. Alough she was a year ahead of me at Woodward High School she always had kind words & a sweet smile. May she rest peacefully in the heavens above.
