John Thomas Iliff


John Thomas Iliff, age 54, passed away at his home in Holgate on Friday, April 14, 2017. He was born on August 22, 1962 to Victor and Elizabeth (Gagle) Iliff. John married Gayle (Sweet) Iliff on June 29, 1999. He began working for Campbells Soup Company in 1981 where he was a machine operator. John was Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 169 in Holgate. He enjoyed camping, and was an avid fan of Holgate High School sports. John was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Wauseon. He was generous with his time and always strived to help and serve others. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, and was a person of great integrity. John is survived by his wife of 17 years, Gayle (Sweet) Iliff; sons, Jason and Benjamin Iliff; mother, Elizabeth (Gagle) Iliff; grandchildren, Jerrica, Jenna, Justin Jr., and Jensen Iliff; and siblings, Walter Iliff, Kenneth Iliff, Linda Reynolds, and Carolyn Pratt. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Iliff; son, Justin Iliff; and sister-in-law, Becky Iliff. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 10 a.m. to Noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, South Shoop Avenue, in Wauseon. Funeral Services will follow at Noon with burial at Forest Hill Cemetery in Napoleon. Memorial contributions are suggested to Friends of Scouting, The Holgate Lions Club, or to the family.

Gayle, Benjamin, Justin, Elizabeth, Linda, Carolyn, and family - So very sorry to hear of John's passing. He was a wonderful person, and we were lucky to have him at the soup factory. .He will be missed by many; I will miss his calm smile whenever, wherever, our paths crossed.
