Jerry H. Bryant



Jerry H. Bryant, 76, of Fostoria, passed away at 3:07 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo.

He was born on November 17, 1940 in Whitesburg, Kentucky to the late Arthur and Melvina (Whitaker) Bryant.  He married Carol Zeigler on February 23, 1962 in Toledo, and she survives him.

Jerry also leaves behind his children, Scott Bryant, of Tiffin, Laura (Steve) Young, of Fostoria, Stephanie (Scott) Sendelbach, of Tiffin, and Patrick ( Melissa)  Bryant, of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie, Michael and Craig Young, Sarah and Heather Bryant, Ethan, Adam, Brynn Sendelbach, and LaDena, Victoria and Freya Bryant; two brothers, Donnie ( Margie) Bryant, of Garrett, Indiana and Jack (Carol) Bryant, of Fostoria; and two sisters, Dorla (Woodrow) Whitaker, of Roxana, Kentucky, and Glenora Eldridge, of Sunman, Indiana.  He was also preceded in death by six brothers and four sisters.

Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Whitesburg High School.  He retired in 1992 as a Captain from the Fostoria Fire Department.  He also was a former employee of Atlas Crankshaft and worked part time for Stultz Electric.  He was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, in Fostoria, and a former member of the VFW Post 421, Fostoria, Post 73 American Legion, Fostoria, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Fostoria # 430.

Jerry assisted with community dinners at church, volunteered delivering meals on wheels and driving people to their medical appointments. He never knew a stranger and would come to the aide of anyone in need.

Jerry was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, camping, attending sports activities and anything that revolved around his grandchildren, whom he loved and who were his passion. He was fun-loving, loved to laugh, loved life, and he loved his grandkids!

Memorial visitation will be from 11 am until 1 pm at Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria on Monday, April 24, 2017.  Memorial services will begin in the church at 1 pm with Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga, presiding.

Contributions in Jerry’s memory may be considered to Hope Lutheran Church or to the American Heart Association.
