Obituary

 

Helen L. Holman, 84, of Fostoria, passed away at 5:57 p.m. Monday July 31, 2017 at The Toledo Hospital.

She was born December 31, 1932 in New Riegel to the late William V. and Ida M. (Bouillon) Clouse. She married Tony B. Holman on June 14, 1958 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Riegel, and he survives in Fostoria.

Also surviving are four children, Sandy (the late Brad) Szilagyi, Port Clinton, Linda (Jim) Hendricks, Fostoria, Chuck (Jenny) Holman of Risingsun and Scott (Robyn) Holman of Fostoria; eleven grandchildren, Benjamin, Aaron, Joshua, Rebecca, Leah and Jacquelyn Mathias, Alisha and Erica Holman and Eli, Sarah and Colt Holman; a brother, Jim Clouse of New Riegel; and sisters, Irene Beaudry of Maumee and Alvera Kin of Upper Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Alvin, Firmin, Walter and Herman “Shorty” Clouse, and sisters, Esther Strausbaugh and Emma Gase.

Helen was a joyful homemaker; a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society, where she served as a longtime funeral lunch chairperson. She was a graduate of New Riegel High School. She enjoyed attending sporting events, especially her grandchildren’s. She enjoyed canning, loved holiday times and will be remembered as a very generous person. She had a great sense of humor and loved to go fishing. Helen was a faith filled person who dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Visitation is Thursday August 3, 2017 from 3-8 p.m. at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria where a Christian Wake Service will take place at 7:45.

Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10:30 am Friday August 4, 2017 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with a Rosary Prayed at 10 am.

Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Catholic Cemetery. A funeral lunch will then follow in St. Wendelin High School Cafteria. 

Memorials are suggested to St. Wendelin Catholic Church.

I'll always remember my Aunt Helen and what a great mom she was. She and my Uncle Tony used to live down the road from our grandparents, and it was our favorite thing as children to walk to their house. Condolences to all from Porter's daughter Mary Lou!
