Gertrude Kuron


Gertrude B. Kuron, 99, of Point Place, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo. She was born on February 19, 1918  to Fred and Margaret (Dubmeyer) Kocher


Gertrude was employed by Champion Spark Plug for 37 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church where she took part in the Church Prayer Line, the Rosary and Alter Society, and Funeral Luncheon Program. She was also part of Champion Spark Plug Retirees and Senior Center at Friendship Park. She enjoyed spending time bird watching.


Gertrude's memory lives on through her son, Frank (Deb) Kuron; daughters, Heidi (Tom) Fay, Barb (Tony) Munich, and Amy (Buck) Brown; 9 grandchildren including her constant companion and her "babe", Adelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stephen Kuron; daughter, Marguerite Kuron; granddaughter, Chelsea Brown; and 6 brothers and sisters of which she was the eldest.


Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2017  from 2 until 8 pm at the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611 where a Rosary service will be held at 7 pm. A prayer service will begin on the Monday, August 21, 2017 at 10:30 am in the funeral home, continuing with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 5153 N. Summit St., Toledo. Father David Cirata celebrant. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.


Memorial contributions may be considered to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

If it wasn't for her daughter, Amy's never ending love and care, my Gertie wouldn't have lived 99 glorious and fun filled years. I miss you Gertie....singing next to you in church will never be the same. Rest in peace my precious

Dear Barb, I remember arguing with your mom on the phone about our"date" to go out for pizza. We would argue about what to get on the pizza, then about who was going to pay. It was fun, your mom was a hoot.
