Frederick R. Hoffbauer

Obituary

 

Frederick R. Hoffbauer, 87, of Fostoria since the age of 12, passed away at 5:15 am Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at his home.

He was born September 30, 1929 in Fostoria to the late F. Joseph and Clara M. (Koepfer) Hoffbauer.

Surviving is a son, Brett Hoffbauer, Fostoria; step-son, Greg (Sue) Kisaberth, Cape Coral, Fl; step-daughter, Diane Gillig, Fostoria; four granddaughters, Jennifer Gillig, Oregon, Lindsey Gillig, Oak Harbor, Jill Kisaberth, Columbus and Sara Kisaberth, Mainville; and a sister, Donna Brookman, Fostoria; and two nephews, Richard Brookman, Santee, CA and Jeff Brookman, Fostoria.

Fred was a machine setter when he retired from Allied-Signal, Fostoria and returned under Honeywell for a 51 year career. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a life member of the Fostoria VFW, Amvets and American Legion. He also had been a member of the Fostoria Eagles club.

As a younger man, his passions included hunting, fishing and his numerous cars and trucks. In later years, he took pride in maintaining his house and yard. He was handy in both the kitchen and garage. Fred enjoyed recounting experiences of his life in Fostoria and earlier years in Alvada. His favorite companions were his pet Pomeranians: Candy, Mandy, Peaches and most recently, Lacey. He was a solid, decent man and will be greatly missed.

There will be no public services held at this time.

So sorry to learn of Fred's passing. I worked with him for 30 plus years and had great respect for the man as a co-worker and friend. He will be missed by many. May God bless the family and help them thru this difficult time.
