Frank E. Durfey


Frank Edwin Durfey, 81, of Erie, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Vibrant Life Hospice in Temperance. He was born on June 30, 1936  to Lorenzo "Bus" and Bernice (Salter) Durfey.


Frank proudly served in his youth as a member of  the United States Navy. He was employed at Buckeye Brewery from 1956 to 1972. He  worked for Owens Illinois from 1972 to 1987 and worked at Diversified from 1987 - 1991 then retired. Frank was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He was also a member of V.F.W. Post #606, formerly # 3265 of Point Place and Harbor Light Masonic Lodge. He loved sailing ever since he was a boy. He loved to be out on the water, fishing, and NASCAR.


Frank is survived by his  wife of 58 years, Deanna (Webb) Durfey; children, Michael and Douglas Durfey, Patricia (Kent) Helm; and Susan (Larry) Braun; sister, Sharron Pinkley; brother, Jesse (Mary) Durfey;  grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Durfey, Melissa Durfey, Matthew Braun, Harlie (Drew) Nevers, Lisa Helm, Cameron Braun, and Breanna Braun; great-grandchildren, Kayden,  Kendall, and Deklan Durfey. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter, Lisa Marie.


Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017  from 3 until 7 pm at the David R. Jasin-Hoening Funeral Home, 5300 N. Summit St., Toledo, OH 43611. Masonic services will begin on the same day at 6 pm at the funeral home, where  a V.F.W. service will follow at 6:30 pm. A memorial service will as also be held at 7 pm with Father David Cirata officiating.


Memorial contributions may be considered to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
