Dale R. Lowery
Dale Robert Lowery, 92, of Fostoria, passed away at 10:06 am Sunday September 3, 2017 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born February 18, 1925 in Carey to the late Harley J. and Clara T. (Boes) Lowery. He married Alma Shaull and she died in 1980. He then married Charlotte K. Marugg in 1985 and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are eight children, Robert (Debbie) Lowery, Waxahachie, TX, Vicki (Michael) Shedwell, Naperville, IL, Thomas (Chris) Lowery, Dodge City, KS, David Lowery, Wright, KS, Patrick Lowery, Garden City, KS, Steven Lowery, Reston, VA, Janet Lowery (John Kirian Jr), Mt. Juliet, TN and Karen (Joe) O’Connor, Tiffin; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; three step-children, Eddie Jo (Linda) England, Delaware, OH, Valorie Jo (Paul) Guerrero, Bellbrook, OH and Michael Dwayne (Julie) England, Dayton; eight step-grandchildren; three brothers, Ramon (Beatrice) Lowery, Arlen (Sue) Lowery and Gerald (Joanne) Lowery all of Fostoria; and sister, Gloria Krupp, Temperance, MI.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Oldaker; and five brothers, Donald, Darrell, Paul, Dean and Roy Lowery.
Dale was a graduate of Carey High School and a WWII United States Army veteran where he was a tank mechanic. He retired in 1995 as a boiler operator at Autolite, Fostoria after 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church and the former Ford Wagon Train Camping Club. He rode his bike ten years in the Great Ohio Bike Adventure. He was a bee keeper, wine and cider maker, longtime St Wendelin Festival worker, where he built many of the booths and spinning wheels. He was a blood donor, woodworker and loved traveling. Dale enjoyed watching westerns, especially John Wayne and Gunsmoke and Ohio State football.
Visitation is Thursday September 7, 2017 from 4-8 pm at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St, Fostoria.
Mass of Christian Burial is 10:30 am Friday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. Military honors by the Fostoria United Veterans and committal prayers will take place in the Veterans Memorial Chapel of Fountain Cemetery. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross, Bridge Hospice or the Fostoria United Veterans.
