Betty J. Gause


Betty J. Gause, age 92, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Mercy Defiance Hospital. Born on February 21, 1925, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ruth (Rehl) Bernius. Betty was a 1943 graduate of Napoleon High School. She went on to work many jobs, from restaurant work to United Telephone Company, and retiring from Del Craft, where she worked as a quality control inspector. She married Robert L. Gause on January 25, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1969. Betty was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved cooking, gardening, bird watching, fishing, crocheting and puzzle books. She enjoyed watching golf, tennis, and cooking shows on TV. She was a member of the Napoleon Church of Christ, and also the Defiance Amvets. Betty could be described as "spunky". She was loving and caring, always putting other people's needs before her own. She loved her granddaughters dearly and will be greatly missed by her close-knit family. Betty is survived by her son, Gregg (Geraldine) Gause; granddaughters, Myndi Gause and Jaymi Gause; and sister, Marilyn (Bud) Engel. She was preceded by her infant son, Terry; sisters, Patty Taylor, and Audrey McCabe; brothers, Richard McCance and Bud Bernius; and half-sister, Katherine Bunn. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker-Hoening Mortuary, 333 W. Main St. in Napoleon, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 11, at the funeral home, Pastor Rick Chickering, officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Ridge Cemetery in Leipsic, Ohio. Memorial donations are suggested to Defiance Shop With A Cop, and/or Disabled American Veterans of America.

My condolences to Gregg, Gerri, Myndi and Jaymi. My heart goes out to you. You mom,mother-in-law and grandmother was a wonderful person. She worried about other people before herself. She will be sadly missed, but is in heaven where there is no more pain,suffering or crying. She will be meet at the pearly gates by her family members.
