Bernice M. (Browning) Shontz-Lee
Bernice Maxine (Browning) Shontz-Lee, 96, of Fostoria, passed away unexpectedly in her home on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
She was born February 6, 1921 in North Baltimore, Ohio to the late Carl Oliver and Edna Vernice (Welson) Browning. She married Delbert Shontz on January 9, 1943 and he preceded her in death in 1990. She later married Robert Lee, and he too precedes her.
Left to cherish her memory is her son Robert D. (Danna) Shontz, of Fostoria; granddaughter Kellee (Tim) Hoover, of Fostoria; great-granddaughters, Elsee Renee Hoover & Claire Elizabeth Hoover; great-grandson, Grady James Hoover; a sister, LaVonne (the late Roger) Hipsher, of Fostoria; daughter-in-law, Kim Shontz, of North Carolina: and Special niece, Carol (the late Jerry) Bryant, of Fostoria; step-daughters, Linda (Tom) Mitchell, of Findlay and Barbara (Joe) Veselka, of Holland; step-grand-daughters, Jennifer (Darrell) McCaul, Katie Veselka, Sarah (Veselka) Beebe, and Stephanie Veselka; step-grandsons, Brad and Brian Mitchell and John Huff (Melissa); step-great-grandchildren, Hallie & Mylie Mitchell, and Alex Veselka.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Carl D. Shontz, great-grandson, Adrin Hoover, sisters, Virginia (Arthur) Williams and Judy Browning.
Bernice was a 1939 Bloomdale High School graduate. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Fostoria since 1948 and a charter member of the Seneca County Legal Secretaries Association. She was a Deputy Clerk for the Fostoria Municipal Court, retiring in 1981 after 20 years of service.
Bernice had a positive outlook on life and ALWAYS found the good in others. She enjoyed taking vacations, playing cards, the Cleveland Indians, and having fun. Her family was everything to her.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at MANN-HARE-HOENING Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Visitation will begin again from 11 am until the time of services at 1 pm on Thursday in the funeral home, Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga, presiding. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery.
